Legendary Jet Fighters - Gloster Meteor
The first ever British jet fighter to enter production, the Gloster Meteor was the Allies' only jet aircraft to be used in combat WWII. Although development of that revolutionary aircraft began in1940, the Meteor only flew in 1943, being put into regular service the next year. Although not a sophisticated aerodynamics design, the Meteor proved to be a successful fighter. Produced over a period of 12 years to a total of 3,947 examples, it went in use not only with the Royal Air Force, but also with the Royal Australian Air Force, Belgian Air Force, Argentine Air Force and was also bought by France, Israel, Egypt and Syria.
